At Signature, we like to say that if it’s made out of tensile or tension fabric, we can engineer it, design it, manufacture it, install it, service it and fix it. Regardless of the application or, in the case of service or repairs, regardless of the original manufacturer.
That premise was put to the test when the Philadelphia Museum of Art undertook a project to install a new auditorium in the historic Perelman Building. The design by MGA Partners called for an acoustic panel that would appear to float below the ceiling with integrated openings for lights and AV equipment. No frames or connection points to the ceiling above could be visible from the auditorium seats.
In addition to the design challenges, the entire project faced a tight timeline that coincided with the beginning of a new exhibit that would incorporate the auditorium. That meant that the design, engineering and fabrication process would be truncated and that everything had to be perfect the first time; there would be no time to reengineer or modify the panels once they were on site. Also, the tight timeline dictated that the panels would need to be installed after much of the other work on the auditorium was already completed.
Fortunately, no structure company in the industry performs more of this type of work than Signature. We were able to deliver and install the finished product within the required timeline to the satisfaction of the Museum and our contractor partners.
