Background
In 2011, the City of Joplin, MO was devastated by a tornado. Much of the downtown area was destroyed. The Harry M. Cornell Center is the crown jewel of the newly rebuilt city- enriching the cultural heart of the city, inspiring people to live, work, play, and stay in Joplin. The center was designed with a beautiful outdoor amphitheater. The patrons of the center wanted a unique state of the art canopy that would further enhance the beauty and functionality of the space.

The Challenge
The board of directors knew they wanted something dramatic and unique, but weren’t certain exactly what it should look like. They needed a company capable of starting with a clean sheet design to team with their local architect to develop a design to meet these requirements.
The Solution
Signature was chosen from presentations from several companies due to our experience, expertise and willingness to start from scratch on a constantly evolving design. We were also chosen due to our unsurpassed experience erecting fabric structures utilizing our own highly trained crews.
The Result
Signature finalized the design after multiple iterations, manufactured the entire system, and completed the installa- tion in time for the 2024 Christmas season. The brand new amphitheater cover allowed the theater itself to be a big part of the holiday celebration in the City of Joplin.
